Tunica-Biloxi Gaming Commission

 

The Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana established the Tunica-Biloxi Tribal Gaming Commission under Tribal Resolution #09-94B. The Commission was created as a requirement of Section 8 of the Tribal-State Compact for the Conduct of Class III Gaming between the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana and the State of Louisiana entered into on September 23, 1992 and as amended effective November 10, 1992, for the purpose of regulating the conduct of all Class III gaming activities on the Tribe's land held in trust by the United States of America, to be effective nunc pro tunc on and as of March 6, 1994. The Commission was created with the appointment of three Commissioners, with one of the three serving as Chairman. The Chairman of the Commission is responsible for the conduct of the Commission's administrative matters. The Commission has the power to: Issue licenses, oversee and define the contract of the licensees, Inspect and examine all premises where gaming is conducted or gaming devices or equipment are sold or distributed, Inspect, examine, and photocopy all papers, books, and records of applicants and licensees and require verification of income, and all provisions of regulations, Contract for such legal counsel to advise as needed,
Suspend or revoke for cause any gaming license, Require all primary management personnel and key employees of all management personnel to undergo investigations. Enforce all applicable laws, Compact statutes or codes for the conduct of class III gaming on Tribal lands. The Commission accomplishes these responsibilities through an effective regulatory apparatus comprised of five sections managed by the Commissioners.
